True Tiger are set to release their new single, ‘In The Air' featuring Professor Green and Maverick Sabre on 12th June 2011 .

Forget what you think you know about current club music, because True Tiger are ready to turn it on its head and send it spinning across the floor. If there is a group of musicians who better represent the potential of 21st century British music to expand in all directions better than Stanza, Sukh Knight, Blue Bear and Gowers, we'd like to see them; entrepreneurial, independent of spirit and culturally open, this collective of four distinct and distinctive personalities are not beholden to the past in any sense, nor to any current scene. They are of the generation that watched the dubstep and grime scenes forge their own sounds and identities from their own localities, and are inspired by that to do precisely the same: to take from their lives and whatever is around them and create something completely of the now, and completely for the people.

True Tiger draw on experiences that take in the pirate radio stations of UK garage, the dark dancefloor of FWD>> and the raging moshpits of Essex heavy metal gigs, immersion in East End bhangra beats, Hendrix and the Aphex Twin, and somehow find the linking points, and find a coherent identity of their own. Yet they are never, ever about “fusion”, nor about some indiscriminate mish-mash of influences in an attempt to be all things to all people. Rather, they are simply four young men of discriminating tastes and a passion for particular sounds who have learned through trial and error what will move a crowd in any given situation. And whether tearing up arena gigs in support of Enter Shikari or being blasted from the biggest bassbins with their beats for P Money and Professor Green, they have already proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they can do exactly that.

Their previous singles 'Slang Like This' with P Money, and Tiger-produced 'Jungle' by Professor Green (voted Best Dancefloor Filler NME Awards) show that they are just as in touch with their pirate radio and rave history as they are with crossover audiences. They show that those musical first cousins grime and dubstep are still not so very far apart and stand as a proud representation of the brilliant cultural collisions that make modern Britain so exciting and creative as we move into the second decade of the millenium.

The guys have teamed up with Professor Green and Maverick Sabre once again for the immense True Tiger track ‘In The Air' which adds a whole new level of dancefloor heft to the urban pop template which has been taking over the charts in the last couple of years. The guys are working on their debut album, and with young stars from the underground...Tinchy Stryder to Katy B, Dizzie Rascal to Magnetic Man... breaking through into the mainstream on a regular basis, True Tiger are ready to take their comprehensive schooling in that underground and make some of the most important pop cultural statements of the new decade.

Following on from the chart success of Pow 2011, Lethal Bizzle is set to release ‘Mind Spinning’ the debut track from his forthcoming album. It’s lyrically a different side of Lethal, but over a real typical Bizzle bassline heavy in-your-face track. The man himself explains;

“The track is about a girl who was into me, but I wasn’t really interested. But then the tables turned and I got into her, but she had moved on, so I was too late. The video is following on from the Pow 2011 video storyline, we’re trying to make a mini movie so all the videos will link together.”

The track is produced by R1 Productions who are production team made up of Richie Montana, Sneaky and Flipz. Richie Montana discovered Tinie Tempah and also recorded his double platinum album ‘Discovery’.

Bizzle released POW 2011 in January 2011, featuring a stellar cast of the current ‘top grime dogs’, appearing on the track in order; Lethal Bizzle, JME, Wiley, Chipmunk, Face, P Money, Ghetts and Kano. It reached a Top 40 chart position despite no radio daytime playlists, and has to date had over 2 million Youtube video views. A great achievement for a grime record, on an independent release, and a fitting follow up to the original banned POW which was a #10 chart smash released in December 2004,

The Best of Bizzle album is out now, and is celebrating Bizzle’s ten years in music. It features some of his biggest hits over the past years including co-labs with Dizzee Rascal, Mr. Hudson, Donaeo, Luciana, US rapper Twister.

After MTV releasing their own poll of who they think is the top 10 best MCs of 2010, Ghetts quite rightly takes offence to him not being on it as any mc would and does a video to 'Whos On The Panel". After listening to 20 secs of the track he already calls out many names that were on the panel that put the poll together and I'll be honest I'm glad I weren't one of them... Charlie sloth managed to get out with a good mention, but other top heads in the industry like Logan Sama, Chantelle Fiddy, and Hattie Collins (all people that have supported Ghetts in the past) don't get off too lightly.

I do agree that the poll was a bit messed up... Many familiar MCs should have been on that list like Skepta, JME, Wretch 32 etc...

But it's deep how he goes in on everyone on the list saying pro greens album was daylight robbery and lowkey musta had someone on the inside...

It's a poll that I think will start a bit of an uproar and Ghetts is the one to start it off...

 

Kanye‘s appearance during the NBA All-Star Halftime show wasn’t much of a surprise, especially since “All of the Lights” was essentially played before and after every commerical break during the NBA All-Star weekend festivities. (While we’re on the topic, Blake Griffin’s over-the-car dunk was way overrated.) Still, minus his pre-Thanksgiving surprise show at Bowery Ballroom, the Chicago MC had never previously performed the song live; and while like the video, the performance lacked 90% of its on-record guests, seeing West perform My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy‘s most extravagant single was long overdue. It also made up for his last public performance/that Thanksgiving parade bullshit.



For those who missed it, you can find the video posted above (via Rap Radar). Rihanna, who headlined the whole shindig, proceeded Yeezy with a mix of old and new hits. Drake also came up for a duet of “What’s My Name?”.



Minus a few festival one-offs, it doesn’t appear that West has any more upcoming appearances in promotion of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which makes sense considering he owes us an album or two.

Its coming up to Valentines Day, and to be quite frank the further away it is from Valentines Day the less I care. But when the days draw closer towards it, it makes me think what I'm going to do for it. Its a average day for me... However, if I know I'm going to be spending it alone and a large amount of my friends have plans you start to think about how lonely living alone or not being in a relationship can be.

I pretty much get on with it, it doesn't bother me living on my own, if anything I enjoy the space. A friend of mine said to me that I should get a cat or go through my little black book (not that I have one) but when I'm single it only makes me wonder why.

I've recently just moved into my new flat, I've been doing everything on my on... I am putting the word DIY to the test. So yesterday when some friends came round, I was talking about what I've done so far... Ripped my bathroom out, put in a new toilet, new sink, laid the tiles myself, grouted, painted, sanded, wallpapered, plastered, making my curtains *deep breath* I've done or doing it on my own. I don't feel I necessarily need someone around for me to do that with.

Whenever I have friends round I try my best to make them feel comfortable, ill feed them if they're hungry, give them a drink if they're thirsty and if its too late or they're tired they are welcome to stay. I like to think of myself as an accommodating person. So why am I still single? And I'm only posing this question because an ex of mine pretty much popped up a week ago and turned up at my house yesterday night after my friends had left (extremely random) and asked me. We had a good catch up and he said to me (his words not mine) "your a good catch, why are you still single?"... Now I thought it was quite funny coming from someone I used to go out with, but he mentioned all these things to me that I used to do for him. He goes " I remember you used to come to my house everyday to clean and cook for me, that's a good quality in a women so why are you single?". Not that I could say anything back to that but when I think back I've always done that without thought, its just standard routine right?

Now I date people, go out, socialise but I can't help thinking why I'm single. I don't think I'm fussy... Here's my checklist (obviously I don't physically tick it off):

I like a guy that has a backbone doesn't piss about and uses his own common sense. I don't like guys that floats along its a total turn off and someone who doesn't ask silly questions *laughs* but I like a guy that takes control and tells me where we are going to eat, and orders for me rather than asks me (However that's just my preference lol.)... But most of all someone that just gets on with it, someone I know that can support and drive themselves to where they want to go.

Other than that I'm not or don't think I'm fussy, I like what everyone else likes decent company, going out to eat and talking...

Now... Currently I'm in this predicament where I do actually like this guy. But I'm not sure what to do about it. Am I still single because of me... Or them...?

To be honest I love this video, I think that it should have been toned down a little for commercial purposes you know coz technically that ain't a PG video if you get what I'm saying. But it shows raw sexuality of a women in her 'zone' shall we say. Now I'm not saying that this is the year of the hoe, and for every girl to use this excuse to go out and show everyone what their 'raw sexuality' is saying but I feel for a women to be comfortable in her own body is a great thing and well I'm not swinging both way but that videos saying a lot right? We have always had this 'battle of the sexes' talk from day dot so I could go on and on either way I think it's great how Estelle, Rhianna. and Ciara and who ever else is next in line, can come out with songs that I know we are all going to be singing along to with confidence. Technically I don't think theres anything wrong with that, I think its about time anyway. BUT what I did notice is that Ciara has a great body but she has no curves! I don't care what anyone says she is a women but she is quite manly... *strokes chin* however if she was a man she must of been a very good looking one coz most of them come out looking like this...



but on the odd occasion you get some that look like this... (yes they are all men!)

Tinie Tempah's new single 'Frisky' I do like Tinie Tempah and his style but I'm just wondering how long this high pitched rapping can be stretched. He's sort of like the UK male version of Nikki Minaj. There's nothing wrong with that but im just wondering how long he can stretch it for. All though it is refreshing to see a artist go down a different route to pop, as Tinie's mixing more with D&B than pop cheese culture... Don't really wanna say anything negative or be picky (not that I would) I just keep getting into trouble with my opinions LOL to to keep everyone happy i'll stay quiet. Well for the time being anyway.

Rapping legend Guru died yesterday (April 19th) after a long battle fighting cancer.

Influential rapper Guru (real name Keith Elam and best known as front man for Gang Starr) passed away aged 43 after suffering cardiac arrest on March 2 and was in a coma for some time.

The New York born MC had been suffering from the cancer for over a year.

A statement read: 'Guru has passed away yesterday morning (April 19) after a long battle with cancer.

"The world has lost one of the best MCs and Hip-Hop icons of all-time -- my loyal best friend, partner, and brother, Guru," Solar said in a statement. "Guru has been battling cancer for well over a year and has lost his battle! This is a matter that Guru wanted private until he could beat it, but tragically, this did not happen. The cancer took him. Now the world has lost a great man and a true genius."

Guru, a Boston native, rose to fame in the 80's as one half of Gangstarr, the iconic rap group with DJ Premier before splitting under acrimonious circumstances.

Since then Guru had released a series of 'Jazzmattaz’ albums where he teamed up with classic jazz, soul and hip hop artists.

He also continued to tour the world with a band and producer Solar.


It's such a shame that a true Hip Hop legend died at a young age. I feel almost a little lost to be honest because the first time I got to meet and speak to Guru and Solar was at the King Apperal Pop Up Store Launch. It was quite refreshing to speak to someone with raw talent and the world of Hip Hop knew that.. And if they didn't... well they ain't educated. But for me to know that I didn't get a chance to work with someone of that caliber, hinders me a little...


I can't help but think if the world knew about his situation would we have been able to do something?

My 'One To Watch' This week goes to Smiler. With his video to his new single 'Enza' only being out for a little over 10 days and already receiving nearly 20,000 hits is a big accomplishment for a relatively new artist. He released his free mixtape 'Clarity' a few months ago and since then he has realised one other video (for a track called 'Clarity') in promotion of the mixtape. Breaking through into such a cut throat industry with only a mixtape, video and your swagger to hand is a difficult task but Smiler makes it look ENZA...

I've always found it refreshing when listening to new material to see that the artist that has created the product has stepped outside the box.

Being in and around music I hear a lot different styles, Pop, Jazz, R&B, Funky, Grime, Soul, Hip Hop the lot... and when you hear a good quality mixtape you dont actually tend to have to listen to each song for that long to know it has been produced and put together well.

The reason I say this because I won't blog material I don't feel is worth blogging, no one wants to read a review about how shit a song or mixtape was thats something you can do in 140 characters on twitter. But there's a collective of people that I have followed for a while and remained intreged about in terms of their music, and London Ivy is one of them.

I emailed him a good few weeks ago about what he was doing with his music after he sent me his remix of 50 cents baby by me and he told me about him releasing a mixtape to I was quite excited to see what he's come up with as he's being introduced as a new artist in the scene. He has a good team around him and immense support espesh from Sweetheart Shan :) and without even listening to the mixtape I know he will do well.

If your into UK rap, this is a decent mixtape, it's been well put together as well as some very good features from Wizzy Wow, G frsh, Shimmy Styles and Tippaly whom have all released mixtapes recently as well as Benni Bizzle, Double S, Calibar and Cell22.


The Cross Over, I think this intro, when you listen to it he almost raps with this sincere voice, like hes talking to you as if you're in the room with him. Like hes tryna chirps gal on on the phone... #pause LOL nah I'm joking he has this constant flow in his voice when is quite nice really. London Ivy, If you dont know his name you'll be singing it after you've listened to this track. Stoned in Saturn is one of my favorite songs till this day because it was actually the first song that introduced me to Ivy, produced by Wizzy Wow smart use of auto tune never gets too old. Bennie Bizzle breaks up 'I was born to do this' really well, which gives the song nice clout he also has some freestyles on the mixtape which evens it out really well. Gotta let you go, Dymunds has got a sweet voice and the song itself reminds me of my current post of QMG Part 6, I hate to be cliche but it does. Seat back love is a real rock to it track featuring the original flow farda Double S, its a nice lover track. Road to the blocks, I like this track, each artist on this track is unique in their own way which makes it stand out. Ivy has a constant flow when he raps, Tippaly almost has this real 'english' accent when he raps, Shimmy Styles has a very hip hop delivery, and Wizzy Wow has always been a G on the auto tune.

If you aint into UK rap or haven't been too convienced about whether you like it or not, this is a good mixtape to start with. It's soft but that doesn't take anything away from the product itself. You hear Ivy stays true to his style throughout the whole mixtape, and consistancy is something I find many artists, artists in general find differcult to do. I would recommed you download it.
